So, I have a '96 883. I would like to lift my arms up from the drag bars currently on it. There is currently a 4" riser so I plan on doing the 8" Biltwell Breezer to bring it up to 12" from the triple tree.
My question that I really need help with is, do I HAVE to do internal wiring? Would it look bad with the wiring on the bar itself? I don't think the Biltwells come with pre-drilled holes for internal wiring.
Also, any suggestions for wiring extensions and cable kits? I looked at
I wouldn't internally wire them. You risk cutting through the wires and shorting things out as much as handlebars move. Unless you are doing a show bike.
I'd loosen your bars from the risers and see how much play you have. You may only have to extend your front brake. It'll be close.

The bike got rewired at one point so il have to see how much play I have in the wiring. I didn't think internal would be a big deal. I just see a lot of guys talking about it like it is a big deal. The bike was originally a show bike, but now it's my everyday ride.
I guess i can see how much slack is in the brake line and find out.
On my '97 sporty, bone stock, there was plenty of wire wound up inside the headlight to run 10" mini apes. No extensions needed. I ran them up the outside of the bars.

Mine definitely isn't bone stock though. It was rewired and I don't know what they left me as far as extra wiring. I can look inside the headlight and found out.
Thanks for all the input everyone. I think I'm going to pull my headlight off and check for extra wire then maybe check under the tank. I'd like to know what I need to order so I can get it all at once!
I'm just going to do external wiring too and I HOPE the brake cable is long enough!!
