I have a figure machine intake and It works great but I get oil blow back when I get on it. I found that the reason was because the loctite was burning off and the breather bolt were loosening up. Once I tighten them back down they are great for a while till they loosen back up. I then got high temp threadlock up to 450 degrees (the highest I could find at an autoparts store) and that lasted about a week and a half before that seemed to burn up. What does everyone else do? I dont want to have to ride with a wrench. I love the look and the size of the intake but those bolts are becoming a pain.
That would probably work and if all else fails I will try o get them drilled out. The thing that gets me though is plenty of people have this very air cleaner and have never mentioned this being a problem so I may have done something wrong somewhere. Somehow?
Update: I got to the store and remembered I knew nothing about gasket sealer and got something that was high torq and gasoline resistant (i think I did it right?) I will update in a week or two if this was a viable solution. Thanks for the suggestions again. If this doesnt work I am getting a drill and some wire.
I didnt torque them down per say as they are aluminum and I have no specs but I get them as snug as I can then give the wrench a good whack and call it good. Anytime It leaks I put the wrench on it and it tightens 1/8th turn or so. Its that subtle. I appreciate the input but I already put this junk in so we shall see.
Being aluminum I can see how that will be a problem. Well if that gasket sealer you got doesn't work, give the permatex I mentioned a shot. It withstands high temps, works well with oil and works well with vibration problems. You can see the description in the link I provided. I believe HD uses this or a very similar product for the breather bolts, because it's the same color and texture as seen when you take off the original bolts.
I ended up using this stuff. Should be rather similar to what you used. I honestly have know idea what gasket maker was. Never needed it before so thank you all for the information. I learned things from the internet today rather than rotting my brain away.
