Hey guys, I have a 1970 XLCH on the lift getting a new face lift but for the time being I'm looking for something to ride to work and back. I found a 2001 like new 883 that's been sitting in a storage unit most of its life. It has 5600 miles on it, bone stock except for the seat and looks like new. The guy is asking 4K for it. I see the retail KBB is 3600. What do you think, offer him 3500?
I'd like to find an evo soft tail with low mileage for around 4K but that's almost impossible for one in good shape. I'm better off looking for a special constructed bike for that cost. The sporty is so much nicer to ride in traffic and the power is more then enough for me.
I think that's a pretty fair deal, especially if you can get a few hundred knocked off. It'll need tires, as the original ones will be hard and weather checked.
I also think that's a pretty good year range. Not overly complicated, and pretty reliable with few issues.
I bought an '02 a little while ago with really low mileage, and aside from a couple real minor problems, it was a rock solid reliable daily ride.
I say go for it!
$4k might be a little much since you'll probably have to replace tires and oil right away. If you can get it for $3500 give or take I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Especially if it hasn't been modded in a distasteful way.
