Last Oct. I picked up a black 2009 XL 1200c with 1400 miles on it for $4800 off ebay, the bike was like brand new..there is a lot of deals on sportsters as people buy them then decide riding is not for them or after a year they want a "real Harley" for me the Sportster is all Harley without all the headaches.(read link below)
My 2 cents.
Sportsters without the engine being rubber mounted ?
I'm new to this game but I couldn't even imagine that... My hands get a buzz pretty bad the way it is now..

The solid mounts do rather more than merely 'buzz'!

I wonder why they never rubber mounted the handle bars in some way ?
Seems like an easy thing to do.. I just ordered new Kuryakyn ISO grips, hope that helps my left hand problems.

They use the same handlebar rubber mounts as the big twins, but with the engine being solid mount don't give the same benefit to us mere mortals!
Now, for an even harder (?) question. What XL do I go for if I like to corner briskly? Also prefer comfort to the "low" profile everybody else wants. I see the foot peg feelers on the newer ones and suspect the Road King has a steeper lean angle. Still want the rubber mount fuelie engine and I prefer the classic sporty look to the XR1200.

There's only one answer to that question - an XL1200R (or XL883R). Here in the UK and some other export markets we can still get a new XL883R, but I think you chaps have been denied that opportunity for several years now, so you may have to look for a secondhand one. An alternative is to start with a SuperLow and fit taller suspension, to improve cornering clearances and comfort. Those darned silly spikes are best removed asap, if only to stop injuring yourself on them in the garage!

I love the R model but couldn't find the right one when I went to buy.
But there is one more option for cornering clearance.
