Then since I am over 25 I can do (and am doing) what is called a Direct Access or A1 test which unlocks your licence for all bikes. I am being trained by an ex-military bike instructor and once passed (hopefully on 12th Aug) I am continuing straight away with my IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) which takes up to a year to get through.

From there I'm looking at becoming a Blood Biker... BB's in the UK are a voluntary organisation who get called on by the NHS to deliver emergency blood for transfusions and donor organs to hospitals a lot quicker than ambulances can. More training to be done to get to this point.

So there we have it, no Sid the Squid here
Ah. I had forgotten about the different way you guys go about motorcycle licensing across the pond! The "MSF" here in the States is the "Motorcycle Safety Foundation":

"The Motorcycle Safety FoundationŽ is the internationally recognized developer of the comprehensive, research-based, Rider Education and Training System (RETS). RETS curricula promotes lifelong-learning for motorcyclists and continuous professional development for certified RiderCoaches(SM) and other trainers. MSF also actively participates in government relations, safety research, public awareness campaigns and the provision of technical assistance to state training and licensing programs. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation is a national, not-for-profit organization sponsored by BMW, BRP, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Piaggio, Polaris Motorcycles, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.

Mission Statement:

To make motorcycling safer and more enjoyable by ensuring access to lifelong quality education and training for current and prospective riders, and by advocating a safer riding environment.

Vision Statement:

The MSF is an internationally recognized not-for-profit foundation, supported by motorcycle manufacturers, that provides leadership to the motorcycle safety community through its expertise, tools, and partnerships."

The Blood Biker thing sure seems like a very righteous way to contribute to your community, and I wish you well with your training!

=8^)
