Default Raise Shifter Peg?

2013 XL1200 Sportster Custom

Between new footpegs and boots there is very little room under my shifter peg. Is there a way I can raise the shifter peg about an inch? I can get under it using the side side of my foot. Before I could just slide my foot over and upshift without really giving it much though. I have to be much more deliberate and I was just wondering if anything can be done.

NO, I do not want to get rid of my pegs and boots. :-)

The gear lever sits on a shimmed spline. Remove the bolt and slide it off then move it round a notch and try that. Again if needed.

I assume your "Custom" has forward controls. If so, the shifter (peg) lever is connected to an adjustable shifter rod that's connected to the primary shifter lever. Loosen the lock nuts on the Heim joints at both ends of the rod and turn the rod till you get the peg where you want it. Re-tighten the lock nuts.

Almost, Harley in their infinite wisdom didnt thread the shaft like that. If you just loosen the jam nuts and rotate the shaft it just moves left or right, it doesnt shorten or lengthen. You have to disconnect one end and screw the end in or out to make it longer or shorter.

You are absolutely correct Rog, it's been a while since I last adjusted mine.
