So the issue is occasionaly when I roll on the throttle nothing happens... Engine doesnt rev up, nothin. Then after a second or two it will jump forward, makes riding difficult when it lurches forward like that, not to mention not safe. First noticed it today when i was in 3rd gear, I was going 40-50 miles an hour, and it started. Thought maybe it was because i was bogging the motor down so shifted to 2nd but stil had the issue. After a little while i came to a stop and then didnt have another issue. Later today it happened again (bike is warm, so thats not the issue), i didnt come to any stops but it stopped after a little while.
Here is a list if upgrades i have done,
So i just got a 2012 883, And i finished the stage 1 upgrade. Did the work myself and now have the vance and hines short shots, vance and hines V02 with the duke cover. And then i installed a vance and hines fuel management system and mapped it.
Take bike to a mechanic. Could be transmission/gearing/belt drive but I am just guessing. If that happened to me, it's in the shop the next day. Dangerous not to have the gear engaged when you need to move, then jump forward unexpectedly.
So i did some searching on the TPS, and the symptoms sound right, hesitation, surging, rough idle (my idle is fine but when i am on the flat, rolling at idle in 1st, it kinda bucks a bit...) just seems strange it would fail with only 2500 miles... Ill swap that out and see if i continue to have issues. If i do ill post and probably take it in...
So i called the harley shop and explained the issue. They said could be bad gas. Well i just got the bike used and put maybe 2 gallons of regular in it. Yesterday i was down to 1/3 of a tank but i stopped and got premium and put that in it. Didnt have any throttle issues at all yesterday, but did notice a small backfire.
Ill do a long ride again today to see if anything changed but seems like a step in the right direction. Could have been a simple example of ignorance...
