Looking at getting an H-D Detachable sissy bar for my Iron but don't know whether to go standard or the smaller one... Can I see some pictures to guage which way I want to go?
There are plenty of photos on Google but I'm not sure which ones are official or what size they are.
I would consider the luggage you will attach to it, the size of the passenger, and what comfort level the passenger needs. Also, once you have the detachable side plates it's easy to swap different sissy bar sizes. I have three different sizes for mine.
Hadn't even thought about luggage... All I know is I want to get the pad from Mustang so it matches the Fastback which I've ordered...
If you post the H-D part number of the upright you want to use and the part number of the seat you ordered, I can suggest pads to fit the upright and match the style of the seat.

Great!
So I've ordered a 76145 Fastback seat, and I'm thinking about the One-Piece Detachable in black (51146-10). I was looking earlier today and thought the Vintage Pad (75633) looked like the right one for the job?

75633 is meant to go on a Medallion bar. The closest to that pad we offer to fit the 51146-10 upright is 76272. However, as this is typically a Softail backrest, the vinyl isn't a match to your Fastback. You can get the pad with a custom cover to match the Fastback, however, for a $35 upcharge.
Not what your looking for but this is my sissy bar it comes in very handy, last weekend I rode over 600 miles and carried all my things inside the sleeping bag.
I love the old school look of the 51146-10 sissy bar. The 76145 Fastback seat looks good too and has minimal styling. I would think you could find a Harley Backrest Pad in leather that would closely match the Mustang seat. The $35 US from Mustang is a good price for a custom pad though.
I just love throwing my Sissy Bar in the mix when I can. Made this bar myself out of #6 rebar. Bent it, fit it to the detachable brackets, had it chromed and then made the rough Pad which I had covered by www.shorefireproducts.com . I think Joe did a great job. Maybe this is something that you want to think about. I thought the Price was very reasonable.
