Hi guys.
I have a 2004 1200c sporty. last week it wasn't starting very well, tightened the batt cables, started, it shorted out due to an exposed ground wire and melted battery , replaced the battery, fixed the exposed wire and will not start, I now have power, I have fuel to the carb, have spark too.... what the heck happened? Any suggestions on what to check? All the fuses are good...supposed to be leaving thursday for a 2 week haul....
Try swaping the two black relays in the fusebox.
You sure you got all the correct wires back on the battery terminals?
You say the exposed ground wire shorted? did it short against the positive terminal of the battery?
No it shorted out on the negative terminal... all wires are connected properly on the new battery. Will try the relays. Thanks
OK somethings wrong, a negative cable can't short on the negative terminal as they are both negative, it must have been a positive cable if it shorted on the negative terminal, or a negative cable attached to the positive on the battery. I think you have some mismatched wiring on the battery.
