Default Lost another part of the highway

I keep losing parts off my bike!

Today, cruising up the highway, about 5 minutes into my 45 minute trip, the exhaust suddenly got louder/different. Revved it up, power seemed normal, figured my ear just popped or helmet moved or something.

Drove 15 minutes, stopped at the burger joint for a sandwich, checked things over, an discovered that I had lost a baffle out of the rear pipe. I had found it rattling last week, and replaced the bolt/nut/lock washer, and thought I had it tight enough (I tend to tighten things tight...sometimes just too tight). Oh well.

Question - I thought I read somewhere in a thread where guys are replacing the baffles with a "lollypop" - flat washer with a bolt welded to it that got inserted into the exhaust....is there a size of washer to do this with? (or should i just order a baffle?

You could try DK Customs Thunder Torque Inserts similar to the lollipop but made and tested for this application. It will improve low-mid range power and deepen sound of the exhaust.

Here is the link.

Blue locktite is pretty much as important as the right torque on these bikes.
I carry it with me in a ziplock bag , even for other riders when we go riding.
I've played with my current baffles probably 6 times and always reapply blue locktite each time.
It really is that important.
Depending on the mufflers you have , the TTI's might work pretty well for you , even without the stock baffles.
Just measure the muffler ID and give them a call.

This exact same thing happened to me. my baffle flew out while riding, I remembered hearing a "ping ping ping" sound and thought maybe I ran over something. I went back to where I heard that sound and there was my baffle laying in the ditch.

Also, had my battery cover fly off; found that in the median, thank god. AND I had my right forward control shear off. Fortunately I was able to support it with my foot until I limped back home.

I only had the bike for a few months when all that happened and really questioned what I was getting myself into. haha

Thanks for all the shout-outs on the TTI's.

The W's work well, with or without baffles, in any type of pipe. They also sound better and produce more power than a flat washer (lolipop)

Below is a vid of 5 different bikes to see how they work on different pipes, with and without baffles.

Here is a LINK you can use to determine which size TTI for any type pipe.

btw, threadlocker (loctite) does not work so well on exhaust components...they get too hot. Best to use lockwashers or self-locking nuts.
