Will an upper chain guard from a 97 sportster 883 fit a 2005 1200c

Probably not. Parts from roughly 86-03 are interchangeable.

Go to the HD website and look up the upper chain guard for your 1200C and see if the 97 883 is included in the fitment section. If not, it's not interchangeable. I would guess that it does not fit.

Are you just looking to replace yours? I found tons on ebay when mine broke. I think I paid $10 for mine. It's a bit scratched up but the bags will cover it anyways so who cares.

Hi Jeff and welcome to HDF from the UK. There are two answers to questions like this! One is that in this case the part number has changed, which indicates the later guard is different to that '97 one. The other answer is that doesn't mean it cannot be made to fit! If you want a bolt-on replacement, then look for the right part #60367-04.
