Looking at getting 87 xl1100 that has stock mechanical speedo/tach and would want to put on a mini speedo (eliminate the tach). New speedo I'm looking at is here:
This has all the warn/indicator lights within the unit. My question is....does anyone have a wire for wire guide on what would go where? possibly the new speedo wires match up with factory colors, but the only indicator for wiring instructions from the speedo manufacturer are "See page 939 for wiring diagram "....not sure what page that's referring to. I have the workshop manual and looked through the wiring diagrams but do not see anything related to these wires coming out of the speedo.
hardly anything matches factory colors. And if your '87 is like mine, all the indicator wires are black. Best bet is to have a 12v p/s you can hook up leads to and see which wires do what, there's probably a diagram with the speedo to indicate which wires do what function as well. When you take your indicator lights off, pay close attention to what wires go where. I'm pretty sure you're going to find that they're all the same color until they get into the headlight harness
