Default Fairing or Windshield

I bought me a Harley 48 used and set up pretty much how i liked here a couple months back. After months of just toying around town with it i finally got my license and been riding as much as possible since.

However i learn one thing real quick. NO Windshield or Fairing makes it a little less enjoyable riding long distances. I've read up on a few different set-ups but was looking for some help on finding a fairing or windshield that don't make my 48 look ridiculous. Any suggestions?

i think the "48" would look weird with a faring. get a kind of low profile windshield.... "memphis shades".. or "National" make some nice ones... stay away from the ones with the weird bends in them... you just want something to take the wind off your chest...
at least that is my findings. i lucked out and found a small harley windshield quick release for a great price....

I use the Harley Compact Sport Wind Deflector on my 48. Takes the wind off my chest when going 65+

Thanks for the info guys. I saw a few of the Memphis shades I liked. The slim looks like it would be great for my bike, but then i saw the Gauntlet Fairing and really liked the looks of that one. Maybe i'll get lucky and find a H-D Quick-Release Compact Windshield for a good price.

Looks and effectiveness are uncomfortable bedfellows! A good looking fairing or shield is likely to be ineffective as a wind-break, possible increase discomfort. I have a qd H-D windshield on my Sporty, which comes off or goes on in a jiffy. A proper windshield, which gives proper protection when I want it! Looks the same as the one on a 1200T. Works to over 90mph.....

Anything more than what subguy here has on a 48 would look terrible.. a wind shield or significant fairing would take away from the great design.. Coming off sport bikes i will say it took a good 1k miles to get use to the wind on my 48 but now it doesnt bother me at all.. I normally bruise at 75 on the freeway.. Just my .02

If you do a little research you will find that those mini sport deflectors really do nothing to take the wind off your body. The 1/4 fairing on the other hand at least ones like the Memphis Shades gauntlet are outstanding. Fairings take all the wind off your torso and allow your head/helmet to be in clean air. I've had 3 different windshields before i got the 1/4 fairing and they all were horrible. A slightly curved flat piece of lexan just isn't aerodynamic. The only good think about HD quick disconnect is ease off and on. All windshields have updraft and cause buffeting at head level. Trust me i have 800+ dollars in windshields on my Sportster and none of them worked to my liking meaning NO BUFFETING.

This is the one i got for cheap ... it is on my 1200c
not sure how it would look on a 48... but i think it would
look better then any kind of faring..... does a great job of "breaking wind"
i look above it have not noticed any buffeting...
