Screamin' Eagle works great in my '05 Custom. My OL liked the factory oil, but she weighs about 90 pounds less than I.

I rebuilt my 00 and used 5w amzoil, but then I installed gold valves and that may have made some of the difference... works good, no complaints, oh and I weight 175lbs

Didn't know if there was something that worked better on the sporty. When I rode it the front end seemed pretty soft. Took the forks apart yesterday and found out why. The original owner hadn't ever changed it so it was pretty bad. Even though it only had 12k on it the ten years took its toll on it. Cleaned the lowers and polished them up. Waiting on my fork rebuild kit to show up.

Factory fork oil looks like poo after 2,000 miles. Maybe it's manufacturing residue, but I've come across dark fork oil after very little time and/or mileage on more than two bikes. I'll bet almost no one changes fork oil in the first 10,000 miles. Maybe, not ever changed before selling or trading in. It'd make an interesting poll, if people answered honestly. My Sportster's last fork oil change was, at least, 11,000 miles ago. Nice reminder.

I really didn't before on my FLSTN either. Picked up my 04 Road King Custom and put Arlen Ness lowers on it and it was the same. Thats the only reason I started paying attention to it at all. The king had 5k on it. The plungers were rusted on the sporty. So I ended up buying new ones.
