Hi
Looking for some help,im about to put bike away for winter and would like to put bike on a battery optimiser, im sure I read somewhere that you can connect an optimiser direct to the Canbus socket on the bike.is this correct.
Thanks guys. Its a 2015 iron.
Mother Harley does not install Battery Tender pigtails (2 prong SAE plug, sometimes 3 prong) at the factory. Most dealerships will put them on, for their purposes as much as for the customer's. When you buy a new bike, the dealership may list it as a line-item on the sales contract, or bury the cost somewhere else. My old-style heated gear uses the same plug, but I have to be aware of the pigtail fuse's Amp rating. Newer heated gear uses a round, co-axial plug. There are adapters available, for two prong to round, but they're so easy to install, it's just as well to add the required pigtail for heated gear. My OL's 2013, has both.

Reason: nunya
My dealership installs the pigtail on all bikes they sell new or used. So if you dont have one on already you will get one when you buy a battery tender. Harbor freight sells a cheaper one that just has alligator clips to hook to your battery. I use that one on the lawn mower for winter & it works just fine.
