Hey guys, do you have any recommendations for affordable seats and engine bars for a 2015 Iron 883?
I need a seat that will set me closer to the handlebars and ground. I'm only 5'3" so I need that extra bit. I know HD seats their "super reach solo seat" but its around $230. Any decent seats that will help me save?
I'm not picky with the engine bars but something that looks nice on the bike and is affordable would be helpful.
Please let me know, Links and brand recommendations appreciated. Thanks guy!
For engine guard, look on craigslist in your area.
To bring you closer to the handlebars and plant your feet, there are several options.
Get handlebars with more pullback
Get low profile seat
Lower bike with shocks/springs and/or lowering blocks.
Actually I did all of them as I am also vertically challenged, but any one will help

Ah thanks, I didnt think about moving the handlebars back, but I'm assuming that'll be pretty costly.
What exactly do you mean by low profile seats? Do you have links/brands of some seats that work for an Iron?

For example my Mustang Tripper Fastback 2-up seat is a low profile seat...brought me down about 1". But the type of seat depends on the kind of riding you will be doing since you sacrifice comfort with low profile seats.
Handlebars are not costly if you do them yourself. Mine was about $150 shipped. I changed mine to Flander Swept Back Handlebars which brought my hands further back and closer to me. Did not need to change clutch or brake cables. Keep in mind I have a XL1200L with 4.5 gal tank, not an 883.
I did not use lowering blocks but dropped my bike using burly slammer kit. With burly you will lose some comfort so if I did it again, I would use lowering blocks with better shocks.
I use the super reduced reach solo seat on all of my modern sporties. They lower you an inch and push you towards the handlebars about 3 inches. you can see it in my sig pic - the sporty is on the right. Also, I believe Corbin makes one that puts you closer and so does Saddlemen. I don't believe Mustang does.
