save a little more and get a 1200.Rather then buy a cheap 883 and spend money to make it a 1200 without the gearing. Also for 2400 down you could easily pick up a used 883 or 1200 at the dealer with small payments and a short loan.
On the jockey shift deal his clutch setup looks like you haft to hold it down to disengage the clutch. Even if it does hold itself down without having the heel part you'd haft to pull it up with your toe to take off. If it won't hold itself down you can't take your foot off at a stop. That would mess me up big time. I'd either fall over in the street or take off like some stupid dub across an intersection on the back wheel.
And I don't see any turn signals on that bike. They are required in my state (WV). You might want to look into that before you buy anything.
By considering that bike I'd say you want something on the lines of a bobber style custom bike. Which there is nothing wrong with that. They can be a lot of fun riding them. But not all customs are created equal, if you know what I mean. So look at them very carefully before you buy then there is no surprises.\
