Default Progressive 440 Shocks

What can you tell me about the discontinued 440 shocks? Are they simply the predecessor to the 444's? Are they a standard or heavy duty shock?

Yes, first was 440 and then 444:

After more than a decade of ruling the roads with our road proven 440 Series shocks, We’ve unveiled another breakthrough design. Dubbed Frequency Sensing Technology (FST) for its unique ability to dynamically adjust damping as you ride. The result is superior performance no matter the road conditions. A top mount threaded preload adjuster allows for fine tuning with a simple twist of the cap.

Probably was able to get in standard or heavy.

I was going to get a set of 430's but found a never used set of 440's for a good price instead. They are the original length, 11.5". I would have preferred 12.5" but I'll make do.

that was my problem, my 11 inch 440 were a great improvement over stock, but the 1.5 inch travel on them still was a issue, so i made the jump to the 12 ich 444 with 2.75 travel. At least now i dont sit on the bump stop. and with my sag i sit about the 11.5 mark on the shock.

Yeah the 11.5" won't be ideal but still so much better than stock.

How much do you weigh? I don't mind firm but the whole point of this exercise is to stop bottoming out over every little bump. Railroad tracks kill me. On the 11.5" version I'd be looking at 2.0" of travel?

Im 240. If you bottom out now. You will still bottom out. I only have 2 marks showing on my 12 inches and i had 3.5 marks on the 11'a. I feel like i can even the 12 inches with 1 to 1.5 marks (markes meaning the preload). What the price your lookinng at om not saying spend 500 if the 440 are like 100 bucks? I was shocked that i could barely sell my 440. 135 shipped on ebay.

I'm in Canada and we are getting hammered by the exchange rate to the U.S. dollar. Add 40% to the price and that's what I pay right now so anything coming from the U.S. isn't worth it. This pair of 440 are NOS and would cost me the equivalent of about $175 U.S.

These shocks are for a 1200 Low. I have this fantasy about buying a used 883 Iron and equipping it with the suspension from a R model. The Iron would a have drag bar and mid controls with proper suspension, the Low has pullback bars with forward controls, slammed for cruising.

Having the 11.5" on the Low is not ideal but still keeps the profile of the bike. I'm 160lbs.
