On the cusp of buying a 2013 forty-eight and noticed the Screamin Eagle Stage IV kit specifies 2014 and up. Any reason this kit will not work on a 2013? Thanks in advance!
Not that I know of. There are other ways of tuning your bike available to us, from the likes of Hammer Performance, who can and do offer similar mods for your bike. They are very popular amongst fellow HDF members.
I really can't say for sure on why this kit wouldn't work. I didn't think a whole lot has changed on the motor. If you are dead set on the SE kit I would still take a look at Hammer Performance and similar companies. If their kits don't distinguish between 2013 and 2014 then its probably a safe bet that it will work.
IIRC the size of the O2 sensors changed for the 14 model and their are tuners that only work for 14 and newer so that could have something to do with it.
The O2 sensors changed I'm pretty sure cause that's the cut off year for exhausts. Which I think the ecu changed also or the tune software changed maybe. Could be because if different emission rules went into affect for the 2014 model years. Just thoughts could be wrong.

I do think my 2014 model required a different powervision then the 2013. dont know if it applies to a engine upgrade though.
After looking through upgrade options on Hammer Power it looks like mechanically nothing has changed so my guess is since the MoCo isn't selling the supporting tuning for the pre 2014 models they decided they don't want to list the kit working for the pre 2014 models. I still think you could get all the parts through Hammer or one of the others for cheaper but I do understand wanting to stick with HD parts.
Never understood the SE mania. Well, I wanted SE stuff, too, when I just got my bike. Then I started reading up on performance parts and realized SE has nothing competitive to offer. With one exception, I use SE exhaust gaskets.

I think its the idea some people have that the OEM's performance group is whats best. There's people in the BMW crowd that will only buy Dinan parts but you can get far better performance for far cheaper from aftermarket companies.
