I have a really stupid question about installing a retrofit LED headlight bulb. I'm embarrassed to ask, and I am tempted to change my username because the question is so stupid. But....for anyone who has installed this bulb, please explain why it appears that I will have two male ends of a plug with nothing to plug them into. The plug on the bulb and the plug in the bucket....both male....god I'm an idiot.
You've been hanging out in the other forums too much. The sportster folk are nice, nothing to fear!
I whined like a baby and cussed like a sailor, but, I got it done!
I have the same style LED bulb in both of my headlights, I love em. The fan is loud and sounds funny when the bike isn't running though. Have you had a chance to test it out?
Nope I haven't had a chance to ride in the dark yet. The forecast was for rain today and severe storms tonight and tomorrow. I'll have to wait until Saturday.
And thank you RKZen....I wish I had that yesterday. Lol but the info is great and I appreciate the link. I'll try that before crying on the forum next time
Just tried to install the same LED bulb and ran into another issue. 1st your question. If the stock bulb is an H4 that has male prongs on it just like the end of the pigtail on the LED bulb. Sounds like you unplugged something in the wrong place.
What I ran into was the new LED bulb has the heat sink on it and the rubber boot will not go over it and seal the bucket. I don't feel comfortable putting it in without a water tight seal.

Yeah you have to remove the boot. My fans sounded a little different after I rode in the rain, but they've continued being fine!
