Wife and I rode 62 miles, (round trip) yesterday to our almost local HD dealer on my 2013 48 just to see the 2016 Roadster. Wow, was I blown away. It was vivid black with a silver pinstripe and beautiful ! I didn't ride it but they offered. While I was setting on it and dreaming the salesman went out and evaluated my 48. Of coarse they made an offer. They loved my bike and said don't change a thing I want it exactly as you rode it in. I've added some custom stuff and it really looks great to me. However, I still owe quite a bit on it so might have to wait a while for the Roadster. The Roadster sets much higher than the 48. Has huge shocks, much bigger front forks, larger diameter mag wheels a bigger gas tank and a 2-up seat. Just seems much bigger and beefed up all over than my 48. I told them I would sleep on it and give it some thought. Well, about one mile away from home the 48 started spitting, sputtering and coughing for gas. So, my 48 gets 62 miles while 2-up on a full tank of gas. Still dreaming about the Roadster. I'm thinking soon as the 2017's come out I'll bite, - maybe sooner. I'm thinking I'll probably go with the matt black and red pinstriped version.
Don't rag it out! Someone will buy it at some point and they don't want the brakes to be squealing at 50 miles because a test rider clamped the brakes like a tiger's jaw.
Okay guys, I guess I should post and say, "First?"
I decided it needed a few mods to really make it work right. D&D Bobcat exhaust in black was a no-brainer choice. It did require some slight bending in the D&D mount due to the tall shocks. Rail air cleaner because why not and it looks good. Custom Dynamics LED turn signals under the new H-D led specific smoked lenses, and a black Daymaker with the black trim ring up front. Security system & Run/Stop switch ignition. Black get a grips and black hand levers. Oh yeah and a PV tune once I've got a few hundred more miles on it.
I'm currently debating rearsets or bars/risers or getting used to the riding position, cause it's pretty damn good and aggressive. I'm also debating the Stage 4 kit and the Hammer...it needs more than 85 hp...give me your opinions on this guys, I can get the ST IV cheap so...
But anyway, it handles like no Harley since the XR1200, better than anything currently in the lineup. Stops insanely well and can almost drag your knees. I've rode every kind of H-D sold in the past 5 years, so I can honestly say it's the best handling stock bike from H-D.
I haven't removed the switch yet, but when you install a security system you can disable the old keyed switch and make it runstop. Once the FOB is close enough you just flick your switch on.

* this only works on BCM bikes
Those are easily defeated! Expensive cars are being targetted by thieves, because their built-in remote disarming devices are so easy to bypass, making them a doddle to nick. A good old fashioned key with security key fob is safer IMHO.

BCM bikes?
when your key shears off due to wind and other things on the ring. you are screwed.
And when did that last happen?! You're even more screwed if your bike isn't where you left it......
that could happen even with all the alarms and locks on gods green earth. people pick sportys up and throw them in trucks, break neck locks and push start, etc.... if someone wants your bike, it's gone.
