Her first crash
We had just pulled out of the base and I was leading. First light within sight of the front gate was yellow so I stopped so I wouldn't lose my buddy. He figured I would gun it and he did as well, and he's a new rider so was following right behind me. He couldn't stop in time. Just heard skidding tires and then had a sharp pain in my back. Lucky me I had my sissy bar and bag on the bike. That took the brunt of the force. His handlebar went into my back but he was able to stay upright after the impact, however he freaked out cause he was heading towards the intersection so he dumped his bike and sprained his ankle. I just have bruises myself so I'm fine. The sissy bar bent down into the back fender though so I had to bend it back for the remainder of the ride and removed it after class. He is riding a motard so his bike only had a bent clutch lever and his forks twisted a little "easy fix". Right after he went down I managed to get my bike to the side, helped him hobble over to the curb to sit down and picked up his bike and parked it on the side of the road as well.

He is looking for a replacement fender "so far being a hard color to find" but for the time being this was my quick fix to make it look ok. I used some plastic puddy like bondo and put the stripe in the direction of the scratch. Did something that goes all the way across so it looks uniform. The sissy bar was one I made when I took my first welding school. I don't have a place to repair or make a new one so I'm just assed out. I'm technically not out of money for it so I told him not to worry about it, though it is what I was saddest about...

Maybe your new rider buddy should take a riders course or practice on base somewhere for a few hours.
A few years ago, i took a friend of mine to a cemetary and had him practice for a couple hours...that way he could practice with almost no traffic to avoid...
Hope things work out...ride safe.

Nice temporary fix on the fender.
And it shows character to still be friends with the guy to did this to you.
Yes, could have been avoided if your friend was riding staggered and maintaining proper distance, but you may have saved his life by stopping him from going into the intersection.
Ride safe.
