I am sure I saw a picture somewhere of someone with a reserve tank mounted to their sissy bar.
Looked like a small keg

just can't find it

This subject pops up around HDF occasionally and it seems there are several brands of robust tanks available, of various shapes and capacity.

My father-in-law had one on his Pan back in the 80's, totally homemade. Oh and he had a fuel line to the carb with a valve so he could switch on the fly from the main tank to the reserve tank.

I am sure it was perfectly safe!?!?!??!?!?!?

Need to find pics, they are around somewhere.

I've been thinking of this, too. It would be nice to stay on the interstate for more than 100 miles. My idea was to use the went hose of EFI tank. I believe this is the only way the air can get into tank when fuel level goes down. So connecting this hose to the reserve tank should theoretically suck the fuel to the main tank and prolong the distance between fillups.

i gotta say that i don't want to stay on the highway that long between fill ups. i found myself getting off every 100 even with my dynas bigger tank. just to stay on the higher side because some stretches have no gas for long periods. and the need to stretch out or unstretch

Yes, getting close to 100 miles in a sparsely populated area can get on your nerves if you have no reserve. I'd like to stay in saddle for at least 120 miles at the time.

Safe? Who needs safe? It sounds like an ingeniously crafty and great idea.

If anyone has a web link to ready-to-use tank for sale I'd be grateful.
