Default Nightster service at 500 miles?

Hello all. Hope everyone is enjoying the awesome riding weather and hitting the roads. So I have my Nightster.....have had it for about a month and just now going to be rolling into 500 miles. I know this seems weak sause...but due to work and weather the first couple weeks I hadnt been able to ride plus its just been me riding by myself 99% of the time. This is my first bike I've ever owned (riden before, never owned) and am just wondering if you are supposed to have it serviced at 500 miles. Like a cage motor you change the oil and what not. I love this bike and I dont want to ruin anything on it. Im most definetely going to be switching over to synthetic though cause most of my riding is in town and man does she get warm. Thanks for the input from a lowely newbie. Ride safe and enjoy the open road.
Todd

Nothing is really due for service at 500 miles unless you notice something out-of-spec.

I'm at 535 miles with my '07 1200 Custom and notice that my clutch needs adjusting. With the weather the way is is up here in New England this weekend, I am going to do the normal 1,000 mile service. Engine Oil and filter, clutch adjustment, primary chain adjustment and check all the major bolts and fasteners.

This too is my first road bike (and Harley) so someone else can chime in and set me straight if I didn't say the right stuff......

The only things I have noticed about the bike really is the heat, the throttle seems to have a bit more freeplay then I would expect, and when starting the bike after its been sitting awhile it almost hiccups, the rmps dont really flutter but it just pops and sputters a lil concerningly like its wanting to die....but as I said before my first bike...harley....and NEW bike I've ever been around.
Thanks for your input. Ride safe

Don't worry, do it at 1,000 miles, allow some more time for engine break-in. I switched over to Synthetic oil after 2,000 miles.
