If it were my bike, I'd do it before.

With just 600 on it and if you are going to be doing mostly highway miles I would wait till I got back personally. Give things a little more time to break in and then change all the fluids/filter. JMO

If you haven't done an oil change on it yet definitely do it before. You probably already have some metal shavings in the oil pan from the first few break in miles, plus the clutch cable tends to do most of its stretching in the first few hundred miles (at least mine did). If you are going to have the dealership do the service I would recommned doing it awhile before you take off on the trip, so you have a chance to ride it a little and check things over before taking off.

I took my 08 RKC to the dealership for the 1k service. Before taking it in, I asked a similar question and the service manager told me 200 miles on either side of 1000 miles is what is recommended by the MoCo.

If you plan to do the service yourself vs taking it in, IMO I would do it prior to the trip so you know you have fresh oil in all three holes and everything is buttoned up tight.

I would do it before as well. Better for the bike and will give you peace of mind that the bike is solid.

I would do it before if it was me. Better to be safe than sorry.

When do you leave for the trip?

Ride the crap out of it now and change it just before you go. 400 miles goes on quick! I do that in a week commuting.

I'd do it before. I found the front stabilizer link bolt come completely loose and spin around at 900 miles on my '07 RG ... scared the crap out of me.
