Default Issues taking off brake rod...

Just making sure my buddy and I are doing this right before I start really cranking on it...

Swapping the stock exhaust on my buddies 13' 48 and need to take off the brake rod to take off the pulley cover to get to the bolts for exhaust brackets...

The Brake rod end by the right foot brake looks to just to held in with a allen screw on that end and a pin/rod on end by rear master cylinder.

My question is that when trying to loosen the screw it doesn't budge.... at all... Is it just a standard bolt and I can just unscrew it...

I know it sounds stupid but really don't wanna strip something or break something over not asking a dumb question.

Thanks guys!

Newbie obviously...

You might find it easier to release the two mounting bolts that hold the front footrest/ brake pedal bracket to the frame and allow it to drop down. If necessary, you can also release the two screws that hold on the rear master cylinder to allow you access to the pulley cover.
The screw in your second picture is a 30 torx and not an allen key I believe. It is held in with Loctite but isn't too big a deal to remove once the footrest assembly is released as you can spin it around to access it better but probably should need to if all you want to do is get the pulley cover off.
If you decide to remove the pin by the master cylinder, take care not to lose the small circlip that holds it in place.

And if you do lose it then be prepared to find out you know more creative uses for the word f*ck then you currently give yourself credit for.

That's a good idea on dropping it down. I figured just needed to crank down more on it but like to triple check. Appreciate the reply!

It should come right out, standard bolt. Not LH thread or anything weird. Maybe try heating it? Some clown might have used red loctite on it.

Yup, mine just came right off, nothing special.. Sounds like it is corroded or somebody put red locktite on it (which would require heat).

^this^

45-50 ft-lbs torque on those peg support bolts. don't hamfist them... don't want any shearing action on the bolts... will not end well.
