Default Sickboy516 w/question

Hi everyone I just joined from NJ
I have a 2008 Sportster 1200 C with a Lehman trike kit. I want to change the bars the new ones are 4" taller the clutch, throttle everything are long enough except the brake line but I bought a new one. Only problem is wiring harness behind speedo. Any tips to get 4 more inches out of them?

Welcome to the forum.

I am not understanding your question...you indicated you have a new brake line and everything else was fine. Why does the wiring harness behind the speedo come into play? Are you saying your brake line is 4" too short?

Sorry I didn't explain too good. The new bars are 4" taller than the originals I bought a brake line to replace the the original. Everything else reaches but the wire harness behind the speedo is too short. I haven't done anything yet

you will need extra wire, some solder, soldering iron, and some shrink tube. Cut the wires solder on the extra wire you need to make it long enough. Make sure to put the shrink tube on the wire first and make sure it is far enough away from the heat/soldering joint that is doesn't shrink down where it doesn't need to be (I know from experience). After the wires are soldered slide the shrink tube over the connection and put some heat to the shrink tube. double check everything works before cleaning up and bolting everything back together. If it does then reinstall and go on about the new bar swap.

Check out "dual wall" heat shrink tubing. It has an inner layer that melts and seals the solder joint better than standard stuff. It's all I use for wiring that will be exposed to weather. You can find kits with various sizes on Amazon.
