Default Problem after handlebar install

Alright guys so I replaced my stock handlebars on my 2009 sportster XL1200C with some 10" mini ape hangers, everything went smooth except for one thing, my clutch is not working!!

When I put the clutch cable on it was very tight at the handle so I was trying to adjust it and one of the times I pulled on the handle I heard a noise and now the handle doesn't spring back on its own

I had an extra brand new clutch cable so I put that on to see if it was my problem but it wasn't.

So what do you think could be my problem?

have pulled the derby cover off and looked to make sure all the clutch parts are working correct. Maybe something broke internally.

is the cable kinked or have a hard bend to it ? if the cable isnt smooth curved into the primary it will be tough to pull and also not spring back - do a clutch adjustment at the clutch itsef

get some pix of the cable on the scoot

If you heard a noise when pulling it and it stopped returning at that point and you replaced the cable already, something broke or got bent in either end. Start by inspecting the lever and look for bends or other where it mounts. If all okay it's in the other end. Also try routing the cable in a different manner if possible to give it some more free play just in case.

It is a bew cable since i heard that popping sound so definitely not the cable

I checked everything on the lever side and it all looks good

Everything on the primary side looks good too, nothing bent or broken that i can see. What makes the clutch spring back? I dont see a spring or anything but something has to make it go back

The clutch assembly spring plate.

Maybe the retaining ring popped? Is the lever slack now?

Wound up bringing it to a shop and turns out something was broken on the primary cover, replaced it and everything works great now

Good deal! Do you know what the part that was broken is called?
