I have an 08 sportster and recently bought a new seat I tried looking at other threads about relocating the ecu but couldn't get it to work so as a temporary fix I ended up taping the ecu to the wire protector in the wheel well in order to see how the seat fits I'm just wonder if I zip tie it to the wire protector if that would fix the relocating problem or not
What he said. I did this, and it's great. Got the Battery Tender branded lithium ion from Amazon for around 100$. Really happy with it. It's tiny and it's light. I fit it, my load equalizer, R/B/T, and the ECU all in the compartment. It's tight, but it fits. If you just do it and the ECU it'll be less tight obviously.
It can be mounted in front of the rear wheel to the frame. I had mine zip tied there at some stage. Maybe just get some silicone glue on there to keep water out.

The wire is not long enough to go all the way back there unfortunately
