I just bought a 2007 xl1200c and its my first harley. I do not like the stock riser and handle bar set. From what I have read there is no easy fix, which is ok with me I am very capable being an engineer. I just want some straight one inch risers with 8 inch z bars. Has anyone done anything like this? Or any good ideas? I have read a few other posts but I have not seen anything I like yet. Thank you in advance!
Welcome to the forums from a fellow Harley noob. I have an '07 1200 Custom as well. I just wrote up a basic guide on swapping out the stock Custom riser and handlebars in the Sportster forum section. I swapped in 12" Z bars which are taller than you want, but I used 1.5" risers like you mentioned, which are about as low as you'll find.
If you head over to my post, I listed all the parts I used as well as some pics to show before and after. I also listed some (hopefully) helpful tips and ideas that would make the swap easier for someone looking for a place to start with their ideas. Leave a comment if it helps, or ask away with any questions you might have and I'll be glad to help out. I'll be posting some more pics here soon for comparison purposes.
