Hey hey! Anyone out there? I have a 2010 1200xl custom.. This has the pullback riser. I just recently purchased a set of holey roller 10in mini apes. I'm looking around for a black riser set...also is this compatible with the stock riser? Looks wise? Is this gonna be goofy looking?! Can I get regular instead of pullback?
All over the place I know. It's my first bike and all the work has been done by friends and family. So need all the help I can get
So far so good.
Yes the risers are compatible. Just undo the clamp and swap the bars. The most common reason for pull-back risers is for smaller riders who have a hard time reaching the bars while maintaining some bend in their arms. If that is not your situation then you could replace the risers to straight ones. If you don't care or you need the pull-backs then just scuff them up and paint or powdercoat them black.
You did not mention in your post if you purchased extended wire and cables with the new bars but I can tell from your pictures that you will most definitely need them. At least with the Sportster nothing is routed through the bars which makes things a little easier.
Amazing! Thanks for the response man! I did order an extension cable set. I heard only the break cable would need to be longer but I figured just do em all.. As for the riser...any recommendations on the non pullback? My arms seem comfortable where it is but I don't know the other ...I'm 6ft and average.
It's really hard to tell what your risers look like from those pics. Maybe take some from the side(perpendicular) and we can see what kind of pullback your stock ones already have. Remember the bars you got have very little pullback so even with those on your stock risers your hands will still be more forward then stock. It's kind of personal preference for where your hands want to be. Best way to do it is sit on your bike with your new bars and put them in a place is comfy and make some measurements. JP cycles has lots of options for risers to select from for good prices.
