I just bought a pair of python 3 slip ons on ebay for $179.99 , plus shipping , cant wait to put them on my roadster .i have a question for all who have put on slip ons , do you have to loosen the pipes at the cylinder heads , i ask because i was reading the onlne instr. for the vance and hines slip-ons and it says to. anyone have these pipes on a 1200 , how do you like them.

yes you should loosen the header bolts and if you didnt and pulled up on the pipes there is a possibility you loosened the gasket seal. and you should get new cross over gaskets they are cheap , 10.00-15.00 , because you will most certainly damage the old ones when you change the mufflers. and yes the python threes sound good , loud but not obnoxious

You shouldn't have to remove the front flange bolts, get yourself 2 exhaust donuts for the crossover pipe. The stock mufflers are on there tight, you have to wiggle it a lot to get it off.

I did not loosen them. I also did not replace the gaskets. I used a little care in pulling everything apart. No leaks, runs and sounds great. Just take your time.
