Default Making stock pipes louder method

My bike is stock but I would like a little more Harley sound. Without changing the air cleaner is it better to drill one small hole in the center of the pipe and gradually increase it to desired loudness or drill a few small holes in a circle and increase their number or size? And how many or how large can i go without upsetting the A/F ratio? I have a lot of neighbours who are also friends so I'm pretty limited in how loud I can make it.

I have tried this many times, and I was usually disappointed with the results.
You will probably end up losing low end.

I ran 3/8 hole in each of mine for 6 months, along with a KN filter and modded spam can. I did have to re-jet the carb. 3 months ago found a NOS set of Cycle Shacks much happier

I did this some years ago on my '08 1200R. Started with 3/8, then went up to 1/2, finally settled on 3/4" centered hole. I also added a Performance Machine a/c. I then had it dyno tuned using the SE Supertuner. It is louder than stock, but quieter than the aftermarket pipes out there. There is a slight percussive quality to the muffler music. Also a bit of vibration in the 3200 rpm range, felt thru the pegs. All in all, I am pleased with the results.

Can you remove the baffles?
Or install a set of slip ons?

Also make sure you do not have the catalytic concerter along with th baffle. Otherwise you will need to saw off the last 2 1/2 " of the pipe in order to remove the cat and all the fiberglass junk inside.

If you have cat converters, Delboy covers a muffler mod and baffle replace here:
