Default Power Vision Tuner Help

My 2011 Iron came equipped by the previous owner with N3 cams, a 1250 kit, RSD exhaust and a Power Vision tuner.

The bike runs great after a few minutes of warm up, very flat before that. While in Daytona I learned that a Power Vision has something called "auto-tune" that tunes the bike to your style of riding.

I removed the LCD screen from the handlebars shortly after getting the bike because I didn't like the way it looked and I figured I was done with the tuning.

Has anyone got experience with "auto-tune" and do you think it would be worthwhile to temporarily reconnect the LCD to run that program? I live in the mountains and bought the bike from someone at sea level.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I got a Power Vision specifically for the auto tune feature. In my experience it works great. There are multiple videos on youtube showing how it works (from manufacturer).

Like you, I don't keep it on the bars because I don't like the look. I keep it in saddlebag while tuning, and then in storage when I'm done.

Definitely hook that baby up and tune.
Follow the advice above and learn everything you can about updates, tunes etc.
Remember to not overwrite your current tune, keep a backup.
You can always return to what you started with if you get oddly tuned somewhere.

Here's a very long thread with some info also:

I don't know if I would trust that the PO started with the correct base map. If you're going to play with the tuning,..maybe start from scratch. But like others said,..don't overwrite it. You should have plenty spaces to save different tunes.

I can tell you on the FP3 they suggest at least 3 1 hour riding sessions for auto-tune to properly tweak your tune. But you "should" be riding really good with just the proper base map. The auto-tune is for very fine tweaking which you may or may not feel in the butt dyno. Many people don't even use the auto-tune cause the base is dialed in nicely.

Be sure to save what you have now before anything else. Hook up the unit and check the tunes in the PV....look for the custom tune that was not auto tuned and auto tune that then save it in another slot. The custom tune would be the base tune for the mods on he bike. The autotune will tweak the custom tune to your riding style. If you cannot identify which is the base custom tune, ask dynojet or Fuelmoto for one if you know the mods done to the bike. Fun stuff..enjoy the journey.

As others have mentioned, I highly recommend viewing the YouTube vids on the PV. They go step by step on what needs to be done. I am surprised that the PO left that on the bike since the PV can be used on multiple bikes with additional license....you scored one of the best tuner on the market IMO lol
lol.

Definitely helps to run autotune. It won't be as specific and detailed as a good dyno tune but it will improve the performance for sure. Do you know if the PO added wide band O2 sensors or are they the stock narrow band sensors? Either one will work but you will get better tuning results with wide band sensors.

Thanks for the information. As many have suggested, sounds like the first step is to watch the video.

I would also suggest running Auto Tune. Just remember that after you auto tune and flash the upgraded tune to the bike it may run a little rough at first. The re tune wipes out the adaptive fuel tables and it will take a little riding for the ECU to reestablish the tables.

You can also look at and download the tune you are running with the WinPV software.
You may see a tune in the custom tunes that is named "Copy of original tune" if the PO didn't delete it or overwrite it.

Then you could compare with WINPV the original tune to what you are running now to see what has been been changed.

I would also suggest connecting the Power Vision to your computer and running the PVUpdate program.
There was a recent firmware update that seems to helped with data logging and at least for me has eliminated
the PV stopping responding at times.
