i tried searching everywhere and havent turned up much.
i have a 2015 sportster iron with 1500 miles, that being said my battery keeps draining overnight. I have figured out the problem is the Idle Air Control Valve keeps running. i have also firgured out that if i shut the bike off with just the key (leaving the switch on the right hand grip to run) the IACV wont run even with the bike off. If i shut the bike off the the switch on the right hand grip and then turn the key to off the IACV will stay running and drain my battery.
if i turn the bike off and make sure the switch is in the run position and key off so the IACV wont keep running, i can turn that switch to the off position and magically the IACV starts to run.
hopefully the way i worded this is understanable. has nayone had this problem and figured out what it could be?? there is 3 fuses on the bike i have taken those out and looked and there is no corrosion of any kind and i also put dielectrical grease on them. could it be the switch or maybe the body control module?? i tried to get a wiring diagram from harley but that is a joke and shows no colors of wires or anything so i can test.

any help is appreciated
thank you
having the same problem did you find out what it was
This problem was actually a service bulletin back a few years. What happens is water follows the frame rail to the fuse box and corrodes some connections making the ecm think the bike is running and turning on the IAC. The fix was to pull the IAC relay and clean the terminals and use some dielectric grease. I think that relay is less than 20 bucks. Id replace it and clean and grease the entire fuse box. My cousin has a 2005 dyna and is having this exact issue. He refuses to believe it so right now after his 5th battery hes in the process of replacing the stator, rotor and regulator...instead of starting at the easiest, cheapest part lol...he was definitely swimming in the shallow end of the family gene pool.
Went out in my garage and heard a faint humming coming. after checking shop lights and everything else in the garage, discovered it was coming from the area of the air intake on my 2003 FLHRI. Now I know why my new bat. was dead a couple of weeks ago. Will take your advice. Thanks!
