Interesting feedback on the new Roadsters. I am beginning to look for a replacement for my 2006 1200R which I presently use for rallies and long distance riding. No matter what bike I buy I will be making substantial changes to it. I like the Roadster because of the dual disc brakes and appreciate the extra stopping power because 1) I am not a skinny guy and 2) With my aux fuel tank and tourpak I probably have an extra 75 pounds on the bike.

My main concern is with the tires and whether I will get the life out of them that I need. With the added weight on my present bike I can get 12,000 miles out of Michelin Commander IIs which is just barely enough. Other than that, I will need to change out the tank to the larger 4.5 gallon tank and change out the bars/riser to move the bars up and back for what I am comfortable with. So essentially, I will be taking what several have commented on this thread is a bike that handles well and I will totally destroy the handling so I can ride it a 1000 miles a day for multiple days

For those that have not seen all the "crap" I have added to my bike, here is the current setup.

Note the chrome engine is due to my original engine dying on Mothers Day weekend in 2017 and I had to buy a used engine and install it so I could ride in a practice rally on Memorial Day weekend and then 3 weeks later ride 1300 miles to MN for the start of the Iron Butt Rally on June 26.
