I have an 04 1200R, it's carbureted and stock. It just started popping a lott when I let of the throttle to decal and brake. Is this normal? Do I need to adjust the carb?
I'm using standard pump gas from Royal Farms, so the quality/consistency is whatever they are buying.
FYI - Your 1200 is spec'd for 91+ octane.
In addition to a possible exhaust leak, a lean fuel condition will cause decel pop. A 2004 should be due for a carb rebuild and intake gasket replacement if it hasn't been done. Dirty jets/passages in the carb or leaky intake manifold gaskets can lead to running lean which can cause decel pop.
