When can we expect Harley to release its line-up for next model year?
I'm curious because I heard a rumor today that next years Sportster line-up may contain a V-Rod inspired, liquid cooled, 6 speed model...if so...I quit life...
In any event has anyone heard of what next year will bring? My dealer confirmed last weekend that HD discontinued 7 models this year, the ones I recall are the 883R, Springer, RK Custom, Wideglide, and a few others I don't remember.
You will hear ALL KINDS of rumors over the next 4 weeks or so about the 2008 models. The fact of the matter is, even the dealers don't know until just a few days before it's released to the general public.
Last year, NOBODY saw the 96 inch engine and 6 speed tranny comming to the big twin bikes. And certainly none of the rumor mills had any mention that the Sportsters would be Fuel Injected.
I personally don't think the 08's will offer a Vrod style water cooled engine..but like ****** mentioned in another post it will probably become a reality in the next few years.
We did have a few posts here on HDF that nailed the discontinued 08 models long before my dealer even heard the news so ya never know?
A water cooled Sportster, or any "standard" HD, would be the end of the marque. To me, the V-Rod is NOT a Harley. It is an experimentalmutant created to survive the EPA rules which are becoming very very difficult to meet with an air cooled engine. It's like looking back when HD bought Aermachi and put their label on those 250cc horizontal singles to compete with the Japanese bikes. Were they Harleys? No way! When the air cooled V-twin no longer sits in the frame of an HD, someone will have to be selected to say the eulogy for our beloved Milwaukee iron...

IMO the V-Rod is the best Harley, Harley has ever made! Why use a lightbulb when you can still use a candle?????

lol . . of course it's a real Harley.
By your logic, you wouldn't have a "real" sportster with those rubber-mounts and those dual disc brakes up front . . why contain the definition of a REAL HD to just the engine?
