Gonna have to assume too much oil, with the limited info.
Did you put 3qts in, instead of 2 and check levels?

Because your bike sat and oil drains down into the crankcase.

It's a 94 sporty I had to clean my carb and mess with the tuning I had the oil at the right level and I ran out of time to get it running. I checked the oil level and it was to the top of the resevior. Where is it coming from? Why is it filling up?

Did you fill it with out starting it to get the oil that had drained down in the crank case pumped back in the oil tank. If you did when you got the level right and started it the oil in the crank case was pumped back into the oil tank causing it to be over filled.

I didn't touch the oil. Is this a normal or somewhat normal thing? I need to do an oil change should I just do that?

Tim, it is likely that some oil had drained from your oil tank into the engine, so that when you next ran the engine that 'extra' oil came back into the tank. Oil will do that if your bike stands for any length of time. In future run your bike for a few minutes before you check the oil level. Only then should you top it up, or indeed empty the tank to do an oil change. If you don't have one get yourself a factory service manual, which will give you guidance on all servicing matters. Your local friendly dealer can supply.

Default Why would my oil cap shoot off?

What's causing the pressure? Bad pump?

Only working with the very limited info you provided, too much oil, as said above.
