Hi Guys,
Regarding the solo seats, I'm 5'11 185 and ride 09 sporty 1200L. I'm tall for the bike so I was searching a seat that will be high and that will also push me backward. I read about the Mustangs and Corbin seats but some say it move them forward and some backward. Would appreciate your input o that.
In general most spring solo seats are going to raise your seat height as the stock seats are "on the frame". You can also increase or decrease the seat height depending on the size of barrel springs, scissor springs, or shock you choose.
It's been my experience that you unfortunately spring solos will also be pushed forward as well especially if the seat has any sort of kick up in the back.
I would try to actually sit on a few different solo set ups to get a feel for the difference.

the seats are all how the rider feels.
I'm 5'11 as well, I used the sundowner on long tours but feel that I am slightly further forward
Currently all I am using is the Mustang Vintage Solo seat as it seems to fit between the Sundowner and the Mustang wide tripper I also have
Just depends on your position on the bike too, I have forwards and mini apes so no one is going to be able to tell you 100% the correct seat for you

Thanks, trying the seats will be best but it's hard to find one place that have it all...

I think I'll try the Mustang Vintage Solo, hopeful they don't have a re stocking fee..

I believe they do. Plus possible shipping fees to get it back. It does suck that nobody has aftermarket Sportster seats for trial. At least not in my area.
For less than the cost of a new seat, you can have your stock one modified. That's the route I'm going. Seems to be the only way to get everything I want. For $200 plus shipping I'll have memory foam, little wider at the seat, low, back and littler higher on the tailbone.
I'm looking into Mean City Cycles based on many good reviews.

Interesting, nothing beats custom. I sold my stock for a Sundowner and wouldn't want to mess with it. I'll take it back.. I checked the website and Mean City is real cool, they do amazing work!!!
