Hi all, currently stripping and rebuilding a 1996 1200 evo sportster engine, all has gone well till it came to pulling the base studs out, 7 have come out but one has snapped clean off at the base, Iv'e tried drilling it and using a stud extractor to no avail, I'm going to have to drill it right out now as its getting a bit messy, I'm thinking of using timeserts to repair it, now in traditional English style working in metric, can someone tell me the size of the thread in unc/imperial or whatever it is called, and what size timeserts i should get to repair it with.
Many thanks.
The thread for the studs in the case should be 3/8"-16.
This site has the timesert you would use (good choice, many good folks use the timesert to hold up well in the stud): http://www.timesert.com/html/hd.html You want number 0381D, which is 1.0" length.
