I have an 07 XL883 with a little over 1000 miles on it and it barely shakes doing 90....or atleast i think it does. This is my first bike....and don't know what to compare it too.
If you have to get it up to 75 for it to vibrate, you have a defective Harley. How are you going to pick up chicks with a mobile vibrator that doesn't vibrate???

Seriously though, vibration is a subjective thing. The first few hundred miles on my 883 I thought it vibrated like crazy. Now, it seems smooth as silk.
My 07 883 is very sweet up until 75mph then there is some marked vibration through the foot rests and handle bars, just wondering if this is normal?.
Its only got 1000 miles on the clock so is it still a little tight I guess, will it get better with age and more miles?
Cheers
Mark
Hmm, my 883 tends to smooth out a little after 75. I had it up to between 80 and85 last Saturday and it felt as 'smooth as glass;' at least a lot smoother than around 65, where I'm always looking for a 6th gear.
Your bike is definitely not broke in all the way, though, and it will surely not be as smooth as it will getonce all the metal engine parts wear-in properly and turn all of their contactpoints bearing-smooth and hard.
Cheers for the replys guys,
I'm hoping it will get better with age, I could sit there all day at 70mph, very smooth (for a twin) hardly any vibs through the bars at all, but as soon as the clock hits 76 you can really feel it.
I don't don't tend to rev hard through the gears (whats the point?) but I tried it last night and it does seem like it starts to vibrate after a certain amount of revs, my bike has no rev counter so I cannot tell you what revs it does it at.
It's only just had it's first service and the mechanic said there was no problems.....I've never been on another 883 so I don't know if it's normal.
Ride a pre 2004 1200 and your 883 will feel like a cadillac. There's going to be a little vibration at high RPM's, but unless it's shaking your feet off the pegs and making your hands go numb it's nothing to worry about. At 75 my 2001 1200 is starting to vibrate pretty good, and it's done it since it was new and never broke anything. I don't know how the newer ones are, but keep an eye on things falling off if you spend a lot of time running 70+ MPH. I've almost lost a few things to vibration, the horn most recently.
