Default RE: throttle sensitivity

Thanks for everyone's input. Normally I'm in 1,2 or 3 but can happen in 4th. Usually at speeds lower than 45, i.e. around town. I've tried concentrating on lightening up on the grip, helped a little, also tried changing my hand position to a lower wrist, helped a little. All in all I believe like some of you have said it's just really sensitive (responsive) and I'm gonna have to get used to it. Thanks again...........glad I wasn't the only one.........If I'd known Pearl would be this sensitive we'd have had a talk before getting married............................

I can understand why people might not like asensitive throttle, but that's actually one of the things that I love aboutmy '07 XL1200L! Subconsciously, I feel that Ihaveso much control.

I noticed it on the Nightster. Really annoying. I think putting a wee bit of "slop" in the adjuster will help, but I haven't gotten around to doing it.
This is a good adjustment to make, and hand position is also a way to avoid this. Also, adjust the position of yer bars, so when ya adjust the position of yer grip all is comfortable. Most people are very surprised how much a slight raiseing or lower of the bars helps things like arm, shoulder, elbow or hand fatigue. A very slight up or down, maybe a half inch really changes the comfort, and cures yer problem from time to time too. A bud of mine always complaine dof the center of his shoul;ders, right at the base of his neck would hurt like crazy after a few miles, and he bitched about whatI call throttle bump. I talked him into lowering his bars a half inch. Believe it or not,,,,, ALL of his complaints went away!

First off, welcome to the wonderful world of fuel injection and torque. No doubt the fuel injection is playing a role in what you are experiencing. I would not adjust the throttle lock to be too tight. It's possible that you could be in an emergency situation, panic, and forget about the throttle. Plusyou cannot use proper riding technique while going over a bump or an obstacle in the road. Just keep on riding and your throttle control will become second nature.
