I'm definately going to do the conversion. I think more juice will be just the thing I need so the bike doesn't work quite as hard. And l do love my bike. Its just that when ever I look for aftermarket items, such as headlight/taillight setups as an example, its not so readily available unless I have specific part numbers from catalogs or such. Plus having the king tank alot of items won't work on my bike.
I love the king tank tho. Even if I have to fill up a little more often............
Headlights and other such things are the same whether it is 883 or 1200. Seats, lights, chrome bolt ons and such are exactly the same from 883 to 1200
That is what I thought. Other than the engine I have always been told the 1200 and 883 are exactly the same, so anything cosmetic that will fit on a 1200 will fit on an 883. At least that is what I was always told

The engines are the same. The only difference is the bore size and size of the valves. They are basically the same bike.
Personally, I don't see why the MoCo even makes the 883. It costs no less to make than a 1200. They should make a basic, no frills, no chrome 1200 for people on a budget....Actually, I do see why the MoCo makes the 883....To make money off of 1200 upgrade kits and trade-ins after people realize that the 883 is kind of lacking in the power department compared to the other bikes.
My 883 rocks the house. I think its the greatest and, actually keeps me grounded knowing that there are a lot more bikes out there that are faster. It keeps me humble but, oh so proud.
"I'll beat you like a redheaded stepchild on X-mas morning!" Take her out and put her threw the gears and I bet you won't thing less of her, great bikes.
What do you 883 owners get for gas mileage? I see more and more scooters around here with high gas prices.
I see a lot of guys defending the 883 on here but I wonder how many actually ride on or have one as their main bike? Many dudes defend it by saying "I like to ride my wifes" or "My gals 883 is fun to take for a quick spin" but do many men on here really ride one all the time? I own one bike, a 2000 883C that is all stock, when I ride with my friends (who have07 Dyna wideglides) and I am behind themstopped at a light I gotta be real careful or else I will fly right up theirbehinds when we take off!! I can't believe how quick my 883 is compared totheir wide glides. Yet, it seems like883's are only taken serious to a point. I cruise right along sidethem or anyone else on the highway. So if possible can I see a show of hands by the male 883 riders here? I am just curious to see what kind of numbers there are.
