I'm just trying to make sure whichever wheel I get will be an easy swap. I don't want to have to modify too much
you have a 1" rear axle and 3/4" front axle. that changed in 2008, to 25mm front and back.
those with front wheels set up for narrow glides are also what you are after. check the donor bike specs if you are cruising ebay. older wheels ran tapered bearings. probably want to avoid those.
the 13 spoke 16" and 19" wheels that you see on dynas and sportsters are a hot commodity and people will pay big bucks for them. you really will not see those for less than 500, any you'd want anyway,
those wheels from the last ebay auction you posted don't look to be period correct, the look like 80s-2003 vs what the seller is claiming as 2004-2006. and in the description you see:
"OEM Harley Davidson Sportster 9 spoke Wheels. 19 x 2.15 front has 3/4” bearing. 16 x 3 rear has 3/4" bearing. Wheels are used and do have some signs of wear and tear, please view all pictures and be aware that they are not perfect and do have some knicks, scratches and etc from normal use. Buyer is responsible for proper fitment before purchase, if you are unsure of fitment please call your local Harley dealership to get specific information regarding fitment on your bike. Buy it now includes free shipping within the United States. International buyer will use eBay global shipping program at their cost if available."
