For those that wear motorcycle helmets (by choice or by law), have you been warned by people that it contributes to male pattern baldness? I'm 41 and going thin on top.Someone suggested yesterday, that riding a motorcycle won't be helping matters.I did a quick check on the internet, but couldn't find anycategoric statement for or against the argument.
It's certainly a myth that seems to have been circulatingfor years. Thinking about it, Iguess the same claim could be made of anyhat, cap etc.

Wearing helmets, hats, caps etc don't lead to baldness whatsoever.....Your hair don;t breathe air.....Its fed oxygen and nutrients from blood circulation.....Thats an old wives tale about hats and helmets etc....

It hasn't caused any hair loss, but it has straightened my hair. All my life, I've had very curly hair. Between the skull caps, due rags, and helmet. My hair is now almost completely straight..... go figure...

Isn't growing old great. It's all genetics Steve. Blame it on your "gene" pool. I started losing my hair n my 20's (thanks Dad). Wasn't wearing a helmet then either. Just a fact of life.

yep, if you want to know if you are going to go bald, check your grandfather on your moms side.
I think however that wearing a cap all the time contributes to this. I have been wearing a solid (not the mesh truck driver style) hat every day for the past 10 or more years and since I have started wearing ones that don't hold in so much heat, my hair is actually coming back in the spot that was thinning. The spot used to feel like baby hair but is slowly starting to feel normal again.

My wife was joking a while back that gravity must have something to do with it. What's falling off my head has found it's way onto my back. I figure that if gravity keeps this up, I'm gonna have the hairest freakin' feet on the planet in a few years ...

Hey...bald is sexy...or so my wife assures me. Look on the bright side -it'll stop you getting helmet hair!! But don't, whatever you do,go for the 'comb-over' look. You'll be the subject of much derision and ridicule - and rightly so!
