the main thing you want to do is to put down foamy goodness on the plastic to lift off microparticles of dirt before wiping off, because those particles are mostly harder than the plastic, and cause scratching and decreased light transmission. I usually take my helmet into a bathroom and get it soapy.

I have a terrible habit of realizing I forgot to clean my visor 10 seconds after leaving the gas station so I grabbed a handful of these safety glass cleaner pouches at work and keep them in the pocket of my riding jacket, they work great on the road when you have no access to water or liquid cleaners.

I gather the OP is asking about cleaning while on the road.
IMO a small squirting water bottle and a microfiber towel work best.
(Soak those bugs well!).
I've never used those disposable towelettes, yet they would "fit in a pocket" for storage.

Cleaning in the garage is another thread.
Plexus works great, Meguires plastic cleaner & polish work great, Windex not recommended.

I keep a small bottle of bug slide and microfiber cloth. Works for me and stays fog free in the winter.

Original Bike Spirits comes in a 6 oz. size, and Suzuki Spray Cleaner and Polish come in a 5 oz. size. Both are the same formulation as the Original Honda Spray and Wax Polish. Great cleaner for the whole bike, including the Windshield, and Helmet visor.

Eagle 1 detailing spray and a microfiber cloth. Bugs wipe right off, and it leaves no haziness, or streaks.

I use Target brand lens cleaner. They work great. For stubborn caked on areas I just leave the cloth over the trouble area to help lift the dirt. As long as I don't apply much pressure no problem with scratches.
