do these the things produce a measurable difference or is it just a drag strip "Best Practice"?
I would probably agree with the it’s a good practice. Tough to measure that on a dyno, impossible imho, but I’m not a dyno operator. Heck, I’ve been running stock V-rod plugs in all my Hammer builds since January 2012.
I have index washers to keep the plugs from hitting the pistons on both my 1250/1275. So many theories as to which direction it goes if youre indexing for the plug position itself. I took Aarons advice on which way to point the plugs. Had my 12 year old son do it. He enjoyed the process. I, on the other had have never indexed a sporty plug ever. If youre looking for everything, sure , why not. Im my experience it takes a lot of everythings to make a difference.
Aaron Wilson from Hammer says...
They're needed when using prepared 883 heads and our full .500 dome 30 degree pistons. Those pistons are used in the 110+ and 120+ hp packages. Without the washers, the domes will hit the spark plugs and close up the gaps. So they weren't a part of your package because they aren't needed with your pistons.

You can take it up with Aaron. he sent me the e-mail and that's a quote from him.

I index my plugs on my 1200c, I don’t know if I’ve gained anything, but I thought the small investment towards a couple boxes of plugs and washers, was worth a try.. I have no complaints, I actually enjoyed the process of indexing.
To quote hexnut, I think you may be "picking flyshit out of pepper"
and wont notice any difference for a street application, but hey, if
you've got the time, why not ?

Yes sir, i was crunching numbers, checking on what the washers were there for and if they had to be there.
