I live in Sacramento, CA... what I do is call all the local (Within 40 miles) dealers:
Rocklin
Sacramento
Elk Grove
Folsom
Auburn

... Almost everytime I can get a spot the same day or next day... especially if I offer to buy lunch for $20. HA.

I had my stage one done 24hrs after making the phone call.

Local Southern Maryland dealer had no wait. Made an appointment for Friday then went in around noon on Thursday to drop off and they offered to do the work that day.

Annapolis, Maryland dealer (much more populated area) recommends calling 2 weeks in advance.

Only time my bike's been in the shop, they worked on while I waited. But, I know all the folks there pretty well. It was warranty work so I didn't want to fool with it. All service work is done at oldgeezer's garage and grill.
