The gist of the original question (in jest) was: how do I convince my wife that I can replace the stock exhaust with V&H and save a LOT of weight off the bike... LOL!
The idea of replacing the headlight fluid was good, and I would add that he could also consider removing the fork and replace with a good spoon for better aerodynamics!

Heres what I'd do!
Put the pipes of you choice on and tell her all bikes get louder as they break themselves in, says it in the manual somewhere and I'm sure you remember reading it, don't you?
